How to Opt In to SMS Alerts
To receive safety alerts via SMS from MyAmbits, a user opts in inside the app. Here is exactly
how that works, how messages are sent, and how to opt out at any time.
How to opt in
MyAmbits uses a two-step, recipient-confirmed opt-in: the person you add must
reply CONFIRM themselves before they ever receive an alert. No one is messaged with
safety alerts unless they have explicitly opted in.
- Download and open the MyAmbits app.
-
When adding an emergency contact, the user must check the box confirming they have that person's
permission to be invited. The "Add Contact" button stays disabled until this box is checked.
-
When the contact is added, that person receives a one-time invitation SMS
identifying who added them:
"[Name] added you as an emergency contact on MyAmbits. Reply CONFIRM to receive their
safety alerts (SOS / Walk Me Home only), or STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help."
-
The recipient replies CONFIRM to opt in. Only then is their status set to
confirmed and are they eligible to receive alerts. If they reply STOP (or never
reply), they receive nothing — not even during an SOS.
- Safety alerts are sent only to contacts who have opted in by replying CONFIRM.
Message Frequency
Messages are sent only in response to user-triggered safety events (SOS or
Walk Me Home). No marketing messages. Frequency varies based on user activity.
Opt-Out
Reply STOP to any message to opt out at any time.
